A mysterious blade thrumming with lachrymose potence. Seems to be forged from the solidified blood of an ancient Silver Dragon. The crimson blade is cold as ice to the touch. When charged, one might be misled into feeling a phantom heartbeat pulsating out from the grip.
This Athame can be wielded as a magic (D6) Dagger that grants a +3 bonus to Attack and Damage Rolls made with it. While holding it, you have a +2 bonus to spell Attack rolls and a +3 to AC. These benefits are only accessible if the wielder performs the necessary ritual each morning (detailed below). If this condition is not met, the Athame is treated as a normal non-magical Dagger.
A Silver or White Dragonborn wielder of this Athame increases their amount of available Breath Weapons by 2, as long as they perform the ritual for the day. Their breath weapon now ignores resistance and immunity to Cold. As a free action, a Breath Weapon charge may be sacrificed in order to double your walking speed for one turn; your movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity during that turn.
The Athame has 9 Charges for the following properties. Daily at Dawn the wielder can perform the Athame's bloodthirsty ritual by using it to slash themselves, rolling one of their Hit Die and taking necrotic damage equal to the roll. The wielder then regains double the number rolled from their Hit Die (at most) + 1 expended Charges. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the Athame loses its properties and becomes a nonmagical Dagger.
Spells: You can use an action to expend 1 or more of the Athame's Charges to cast one of the following Spells from it, using your spell save DC: Ceremony (1 charge), Zephyr Strike (1 charge), Hex (1 charge), Crusader's Mantle (2 charges), Steel Wind Strike (5 charges)
You can also sacrifice additional whole Hit Dice to, as a free action, cast the Elemental Weapon spell over the Athame itself, or any other weapon, without using any Charges.
You can also roll additional Hit Dice (as a free action) to add the rolled amount of necrotic damage to a melee or spell attack made with the Athame; the amount dealt will be transferred to the wielder as health. Or (as a bonus action), any number of Hit Dice can be rolled as the wielder slashes themselves, taking the sacrificed amount of necrotic damage as rolled by their Hit Dice; the damage (necrotic) is tripled as it is unleashed onto a chosen creature within a 70 foot range. No line of sight is needed to strike a creature this way, as well as no verbal or somatic components.
Proficiency with a Dagger allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Nick. When you make the extra attack of the Light property, you can make it as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Damage, Debuff, Combat, Finesse, Light, Thrown, Nick
