Wondrous Item, artifact (requires attunement by a warlock)

This thick, ancient tome appears to bound in the skin of several humanoids. It is eerily warm to the touch, and the title is branded onto the cover's skin in harsh, jagged lettering. Sometime during its long life, a previous owner tattooed a translation in Common beneath the original: Ambition. The book is filled cover to cover with a grand tale written in a language lost to time. However, if one is attuned to it for long enough, some of the writing may begin to make sense. It is a wicked, vile object, stained and mistreated by its many owners. Hopefully you'll take better care of it than the last one.

Once attuned after a couple hours of studying the book, a warlock will find themselves feeling protective of it. Leaving the book just sitting around seems like a terrible idea... what if someone were to stumble across it? They might steal your book. It's better to keep it with you at all times, just in case. Should the warlock wish to part with the tome for some reason and unattune, they must succeed on a DC 25 Wisdom saving throw or risk the consequences. Note: The precise consequences are up to your DM, but will likely be pretty gnarly.

While attuned to the tome, a warlock may change any or all of their Eldritch Invocations as part of a long rest. Additionally, once per day, they may spend 10 minutes studying the book and regain 1d4 spell slots. Ambition also acts as a +3 spell focus, and gives your Eldritch Blasts a little more oomph.

Notes: Bonus: Spell Attacks, Bonus: Magic, Bonus: Eldritch Blast Damage, Swap Eldritch Invocations on long rest. Once per day, regain 1d4 spell slots., warlock, Buff, Cursed, Warm
