This remarkably light, sturdy armor is made from the chitinous plating of an Ankheg warrior. It uses the thick armor plates that adorn the front thorax and forelimbs to create a breastplate, forearm, and shin guards. It offers the same protection as Breastplate armor. It’s bulkier than steel, but much lighter, so it's less encumbering in practice. This armor tends only to be found in frontier regions with frequent Ankheg incursions, and finding someone with the skill set to build this armor anywhere else is exceedingly difficult.

You have advantage on saving throws to resist spells or other harmful effects that inflict acid damage while wearing this armor.

This armor consists of a fitted metal chest piece worn with supple leather. Although it leaves the legs and arms relatively unprotected, this armor provides good protection for the wearer's vital organs while leaving the wearer relatively unencumbered.
