Originally created to protect the common folk from the spirits that haunt these hills, this amulet has become a favorite among grave-robbers.
The amulet grants its wearer the the effects of a death ward spell. Furthermore, one charge is drained from the amulet for each Life Drain hit (eg. from a Wight or Wraith), Paralyzing Touch hit, a vampire's bite attack, or any other undead attack which hits, that reduces maximum hit points or parlayzes the wearer. Ability damage/loss can also be regained but also drains one charge per point restored. Further, upon activation, which requires one action, the user is protected by Protection from Evil (as per Protection from Evil and Good spell) which lasts 10 minutes and also drains 1 charge. The amulet when found can have up to a maximum of 50 charges and cannot be recharged.
