While unattuned this item looks like a regular, brand new copper figurine (a succesfull arcana check, a detect magic spell or similar magic will reveal its nature). Attuning to it will animate it.
While attuned to this figurine of an animal (about 4 x 4 inches, size or type of animal makes no mechanical difference)
you can use the help action as a free action 1d4+2 times a day (resets at dawn) if the target is within touch range of the figurine.
If you are hit with an attack that would reduce you to 0 hitpoints and the statue could reasonable block, it will take the blow and be destroyed.
It obeys your commands and moves during your turn, has personality traits of the animal it looks like, a strong affection for you and your allies, a movement speed of 20ft and a climbing speed of 20ft. it does not age and it feels lighter than you'd expect.
If the attunement ends, the statue returns inanimate.
