Bonus Damage: 1d6 necrotic

Ghost Chain. When Anathema is led, a ghostly chain ties the sword to the sword arm of the wielder. Thus the wielder cannot be disarmed or lose the sword in any other way. The wielder can dissolve the chain at any time by thinking about it for a moment.
Soul Steal. On a critical hit the sword tries to devour the soul of its victim. The necrotic damage is rolled x3 while the slashing damage is not changed (e.g. 1d8 slash + 3d6 necrotic). All other values are changed as usual. If the opponent has a soul and is below 10% of the hit points they had at the beginning of the fight the target dies.
Sentience. Anathema is a sentient neutral evil weapon with an Intelligence of 12, a Wisdom of 15, and a Charisma of 15. The weapon communicates telepathically with its wielder and can speak, read, and understand Common. It has a calm, delicate voice.

Anathema was forged in 1003DR by a vampire lord named Mordoc SeLanmere. Mordoc had been a vampire for more than 600 years and had tried to improve his skills with necromancy. He made a breakthrough with the sword Anathema which he forged with the help of Bhaal.
Bhaal had risen to a god in the year 339DR and was still young and in the process of collecting disciples. The alliance between Bhaal and Mordoc SeLanmere led to Mordoc SeLanmere 1374DR conquering Baldur's Gate and making it a city full of zombies and undead. A crucial tool in this process was the sword Anathema.
