Weapon (greatsword), artifact (requires attunement by a by a Hexblade Warlock (see description))

When the Raven Queen first took control of the Shadowfell, she created hexblade warlocks to mete out her will against those that opposed her. Her most loyal was a human named Jorak Furgan. Jorak proved himself time and time again in service to the Raven Queen, proving not only his loyalty, but his skill with a blade. The Raven Queen took note, and named Jorak 'Hexus' - the commander of her most elite warlocks. To commemorate this, and elevate Jorak above his peers, The Raven Queen took one of her feathers, the hair of a drow, a bone from Jorak's father, and the holy symbol of a fallen paladin.

She forged them together to create this sword, a blade of singular beauty...and cruelty. Its shape cut through the air with such agility and precision, it almost guided itself to its intended target. She placed on it runes of transferrance, allowing her to power Jorak's spells so he could handle more pressing things. She placed on it runes of empowerment, letting Jorak recover more quickly in the heat of battle, or to bring pain on those who deserved it. Finally, a rune of health placed upon the blade, to let Jorak withstand more punishment than other mortal men.

Jorak accepted the gift gladly, but after a time began to feel as though he could rival the Raven Queen in power. Before he could act on these feelings, however, the Raven Queen rejected his pact, and stripped him of power, killing him instantly. The Hexus blade was lost to time, waiting for someone worthy of the title to claim it...

This sinister blade has a hilt of adamantine goat horns. It pommel is an obsidian raven skull. Its gleaming-white blade is etched with runes.

Attunement: Attuning to this weapon is easy, but far from simple. Unlike a normal attunement, the hexblade must make a 5 hour ritual to the patron, requiring 5000 gp of candles and jewels, and at least three skulls of enemies personally slain by the hexblade.

When attuned, this eldritch sword becomes a +3 magical greatsword with the following properties:

  • You gain advantage on all melee attacks with this weapon.
  • You gain proficiency in all Constituion saving throws.
  • You can add your Charisma Modifier to the damage of your Eldritch Blast cantrip, on top of any existing modifiers.

In addition, this sword has 6 charges, which can be used in the following ways, each as a bonus action:

  • Offload (1 charge): When you cast a concentration spell and use Hexus as the focus for that spell, Hexus can maintain the concentration for you instead. When you would make a concentration check, Hexus automatically passes its concentration check. You can only maintain one concentration spell in this way at a time.
  • Investment (3 charges): You recover one warlock spell slot at the beginning of your next turn.
  • Eldritch Surge (4 charges): You can take an additional Attack action this turn.
  • Empowerment (5 charges): You can immediately recover one Mystic Arcanum.

The sword regains 1d4+2 expended charges after a long rest. Additionally, if the sword lands the killing blow, either on a target affected by your Hexblade's Curse or due to a critical hit, immediately regain all expended charges.

Proficiency with a greatsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

Notes: Advantage: Melee Attacks, Eldritch Blast: Bonus Damage, Proficiency: Constitution Saving Throws, Bonus: Magic, by a Hexblade Warlock (see description), Heavy, Two-Handed
