These arrows have a cantrip stored within the head which is released on impact, or upon damaging a creature if the cantrip normally makes a spell attack. The shooter is treated as the caster of the spell, which originates at the point of impact, and is cast as if the shooter is a level 1 spellcaster.
If the cantrip can deal damage, the arrow's damage is ignored in favor of the cantrip, and any saves are replaced by the attack roll of the arrow.
Once an arrow of cantrip releases its effect, it becomes a nonmagical arrow.
Other types of magic ammunition of this kind exist, such as bolts of cantrip meant for a crossbow, though arrows are most common.
Proficiency with a Shortbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
