This golden amulet has the appearance of a golden coin. However hidden in the side of the coin are serrated blades that can be extended by pressing on the faces of the coin.
As an action you can extend the blades and cut your hand. If you do you choose a number of hit die to expend, taking that much damage + your constitution bonus and reducing your hit point maximum by that amount. You then gain gold equal to 5x the amount of damage you took. There is no limit to how many times you can do this. The hit point maximum reduction lasts until you finish a long rest.
For example, if you have a constitution modifier of +3 and expend 1 hit die and roll a 5, you would take 8 damage and have your hit point maximum is reduced by 8. You then gain 40 gold. Or if you expend 3 hit die and roll a total of 16 you would take 25 damage, and your hit point maximum would be reduced by 25. You then gain 125 gold.
The Amulet of Blood Money is cursed. It binds itself to the first person to use it, and until the curse is lifted no one else can use the amulet.
Notes: Damage: Necrotic, Utility, Cursed, Jewelry
