Wondrous Item, uncommon (requires attunement by a Sorcerer, Warlock, or Wizard)

Aion is a powerful artifact that was created by Tessa o' the Blade from essence of the elven deity Labelas Enoreth, the Lord of the Continuum. Originally his essence was formed into a solid orb of power that was beyond a mortal's strength to even carry. In time though, through her extensive studies of this physical embodiment of the god of time, Tessa discovered how to draw some of the essence from the orb in the form of mystical sand.

A few days after her discovery, she had to re-summon her imp companion from the Nine Hells and when he returned he had a curious hourglass in hand. Attached to this hourglass which was made of darksteel and rose quartz glass, there was a small note written in infernal:

I still believe in you my little darkspawn,
you will learn this in time.
                                                     ~ Q

This hourglass was indeed powerful enough to hold the sands of time within, though for now Tess could only put so much sand into it. However, Tess had to disconnect the power tether her mother had placed on the hourglass first. After cleansing the hourglass, Tess was able to fill the hourglass with the mystical sands and in time she knew she could add more.

When attuned, the hourglass hovers in the air and it can be used as an arcane focus. The hourglass gives those who are attuned to it a deeper understanding of time, of how to affect it, and how to make it an ally.

Aion has 7 charges represented by the amount of sand within. It regains 1d6 + 1 expended charges daily at dawn. Also, if you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 20, Aion regains 1d6 charges.

The user may use these charges for the following properties:

Time Flux. The attuned user of Aion is always pulled in different directions by time itself, making it hard to remain constant in the present. The character rerolls Initiative at the beginning of each round. Furthermore, all spells attacks and DCs are increased by 1. (No charges)

Alternate Preparation. The attuned user of Aion is able to pull bits and pieces of knowledge from alternate timelines. As a bonus action, the Character is able to change one of their prepared spells for any other they know. (2 charges)

Spells. While holding the hourglass, you can use an action to expend some of its charges to cast the following spell from it, using your spell save DC and spellcasting ability: hold person (2 charges)

You can also use an action to cast the following spell from the hourglass without using any charges: guidance.

Notes: Bonus: Spell Save DC, Bonus: Spell Attacks, Sorcerer, Warlock, or Wizard, Damage, Control, Detection, Combat, Deception, Warding
