You can use this quill to write spells in a wizards spell book that are higher than what it can choose from at it's level. When the wizard reaches the level that is required to use one of the written in spells, the magic that keeps that spell in is gone, but the quill is still maguc and the other spells in the book are too. But to use this, you need a copy of the spell you are trying to write in. A spell scroll with that spell is sufficient, as is a fellow wizards spell book. All written in spells have four spell slots, that recharge after a short rest.
Extra Power. The quill also has a obsidian button on it, when you press the button, the tip of the quill turns into a obsidian blade, that resembles one of the options below;
A +1 Shortsword or Longsword,
A +2 Shortbow or Longbow,
Or a +3 Rapier.
