This vial of pulpy blue liquid becomes quite bubbly when shaken, settling after about a minute of stillness. When poured over a wound, particularly recent or bleeding, the liquid begins to froth and bubble around the injury. This causes any active bleeding to immediately stop and produces a numbing effect that grants temporary hitpoints to the injured creature that last until they finish a short or long rest. The effectiveness of the vial is based on the potency of the potion (see below).
If the potion is consumed by a creature, instead of applied to a wound, they immediately begin to feel a buildup of gas in their stomach and start to belch loudly. If the creature then succeeds at a Constitution saving throw (DC 11) they gain half of the temporary hit points (round down) they would have gained from applying the potion directly to a wound. If the creature fails they must use their action to continue to belch for 1d4 rounds.
Potency (higher potency is a deeper blue color):
- Minor (uncommon) : 5 temporary hit points
- Lesser (uncommon) : 10 temporary hit points
- Intermediate (rare) : 15 temporary hit points
- Greater (rare) : 20 temporary hit points
- Major (very rare) : 25 temporary hit points
