The Ashen Crown is an ancient relic, created by the Keepers of the Past of the Valaes Tairn, then taken by the Dhakaani during the wars that drove the elves back to Aerenal. As crafted by the elves, the Liryana'tani (Common: Crown of Remembrance) was used to return great warriors to life, and to maintain a connection to the ancient heroes of Xen'drik. When the Crown was claimed by the Dhakaani, goblin mages subtly reshaped its power to create Arkantaash. As the Ashen Crown, the artifact reflected the goblins' reverence for ancestors and history.
In its sundered form, the Ashen Crown consists of a magic circlet to which the other magic items are attached. A byeshk blade, magically shapeable, is the Crown's front ornament. Two gems - one a magic solitaire, the other a small orb-are set to either side. A braided cord of mithral and gold wraps tightly around the Crown's circlet.
Arkantaash was sundered shortly before the fall of Dhakaan. Legendary goblin heroes wielded the pieces, and each part now bears the name of its last wielder. When the goblin empire fell, the Crown fragments were lost with it for five thousand years.
While you are attuned to Arkantaash, the Ashen Crown and wearing it, the Crown functions as its component pieces - Skai Aath, Skai Chot, Skai Kaan, Skai Kor, and Skai Shaarat - with the following exceptions:
- the bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls granted by Skai Shaarat increases to +2 and applies to any weapon you wield
- the restrictions placed on the Locate Object spell from Skai Kaan, are lifted, allowing you to cast Locate Object on any object
- the number of charges given for Skai Aath and Skai Chot combine for a total of 12 charges, which can be spent on either item's ability. The Crown regains all expended charges daily at dawn
Random Properties
Arkantaash, the Ashen Crown has the following random properties:
- 2 minor beneficial properties
- 2 minor detrimental properties
Sentience
Arkantaash, the Ashen Crown is a sentient Lawful Neutral magic item with an Intelligence of 16, a Wisdom of 14, and a Charisma of 12. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 60 feet.
The Crown can speak, read, and understand Goblin and Elven, and can communicate with its wielder telepathically. Its voice is deep and raspy. While you are attuned to it, the Crown also understands every language you know. Although the Crown retains a connection to elves and goblins, it prefers neither. In fact, its powers can be used by anyone who lives up to its desires. Doing so usually requires daring action and explorations of historic significance.

Each piece can then be destroyed by transporting it to Xoriat. As soon as a piece enters that plane, it disintegrates into fine powder that disappears within 1 minute.
