Astronomy is the study of celestial bodies and phenomena. Astronomers are able to study the sky to understand the natural world and the cycles of time. You can use the clues observed in the sky to help you discern realities about the world around you.
Components. Astronomer’s tools consist of a small telescope, a sextant, parchment, ink, a quill, as well as star charts and a book on fundamental astrology of the native plane.
Nature, History. You can name constellations and recall lore related to any constellation that you can see.
Investigation. You can determine the current phase of the moon, as well as how many days remain until the full moon and other celestial events (e.g. a solar eclipse).
Perception, Survival. Your study of the skies allows you to anticipate changes in weather, seasons, and detect unusual celestial occurrences.
As long as you have a clear view of the sky, you can determine the following.
| Activity | Sky | DC |
| Which way is north | Day/night | 5 |
| What time of day/season/year it is | Day/night | 5 |
| How long it has been since sunset and how long until sunrise | Night | 10 |
| Your approximate location within 50 miles | Night | 15 |
Proficiency in astronomer’s tools only grants benefit when you are using them on your native plane or the plane where you have studied their use.
