Amber Gem of Cleric Mastery

The Amber Gem of Cleric Mastery is designed to forge a direct link with any chosen Deity of Good Alignment.  Once attuned with its new owner, the Deity recognizes the Cleric's prayers with distinct clarity, much like a morning fog lifting to provide clear sight.  The Gem will glow softly whenever prayers are started to convey the blessings through whatever cosmic murkiness blocks the way. These Gems are highly prized amongst Clerics.  Some will spend a lifetime searching for one to become closer to their God.  Failure of any God not hearing their devoted Cleric's prayer while attuned to an Amber Gem of this type is very rare, indeed.  There are only 10 known to exist in the entirety of the Forgotten Realms.  

The Deep Gnome Cleric, Gogbaic serving Mystra, the Goddess of Magic, prayed for enlightenment over a 30 day fast.  He started to blink in and out of the Prime Material Plane starting on the 15th day.  Finally, on the 30th day, he was granted the knowledge to bind the Amber Gems with powers of clarity. He immediately went to work, gaunt and haggard as he was.  Like one possessed he ran from desk to cauldron in constant prayer.  Only eating when his acolytes could force him.  Sadly, after 1 year to the day, and after the production of the original 10, Gogbaic lost his memory of the knowledge to produce any further Gems with this power. 

The Cleric must attune to the Gem and must wear it close to their heart. It does not make any prayer more powerful, but does greatly reduce the chance of a failure (Roll 1D20; failure only on a 1).
