Weapon (greatsword), rare (requires attunement)

This Greatsword belongs to the current chieftain of the Carcaren tribe. It's said that within it dwell the spirits of chieftains past. Whether infirm beforehand or as a defeated combatant, the next to lead the tribe would use it to end the life of the current Chieftain before taking up the mantle for themself, and granting power to it as well.

Lust for Combat. The Ascendant's Greatsword has access to a pool of d6's. Whenever you drop a creature to 0 hitpoints or deal a critical hit against one, you can choose to restore one die. When you hit a creature with this weapon, you can choose to expend one or more dice (max of your proficiency bonus) to add to the damage of the attack. If the number of dice in this pool exceeds twice your proficiency bonus, you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw. The DC is equal to 15 plus the number of excess dice. If you fail, you fall under a curse from this weapon.

Curse of Wrath. While under this curse, you must use your action each round to attack the creature nearest to you. If you can make extra attacks as part of the attack action, you use those extra attacks, moving to Attack the next nearest creature after you fell your current target. If you have multiple possible targets, you attack one at random. If there are any dice in the sword's pool, you expend the maximum number of dice possible. The curse lasts until you can no longer see or hear any creature within 60 feet of you.

Sentience. The Ascendant's Greatsword is a sentient weapon with an Intelligence of 14, a Wisdom of 22, and a Charisma of 10. It can see and hear normally within 30 feet of it, but can communicate with the current tribe's chieftain telepathically from up to 120 feet away. It can speak, read, and understand Common.

Personality. The Ascendant's Greatsword's sole purpose is to protect the Carcaren tribe. Conflict will arise if its user does anything that would bring harm to anyone in the tribe.

Proficiency with a Greatsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Graze. If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.

Notes: Bonus: Magic, Damage, Combat, Heavy, Two-Handed, Graze
