This Amulet was made by the rock gnomes of Gnomengarde in the Sword Mountains aeons ago. It was once given to a human woman named Ayfer Karadjian by a gnome inventor, who rescued his daughter from a marauding owlbear. The inventor (whom his tribe had given the nickname Rickety Clickety) told her never to open it, because he feared the item may have been accidentally imbued with wild magic, since there had been a surge of it going on at Gnomengarde at the time, but if she kept it closed, nobody would ever come to harm who wore it around their neck. Wise woman that she was, Ayfer passed it on to her daughter after a long and happy life, and with it the story of how she got it. For generations, the direct descendents kept passing it on from mother to daughter, teaching each other kindness and never denying aide to those who need it. Over the decades and centuries, it turned into a bit of a secret possession only the women of the family knew about, and only the middle children could inherit (if there were enough to go around, which was often the case) and of them only those who were the kindest and most loving. Until after many generations, the Amulet fell into the hands of Alfonse Kalazorn, who was the only child of Arianne Kalazorn, in the town of Triboar. He became a sheriff, and a darn good one at that, showing mercy instead of vengeance, justice instead of force. Unfortunately, his mother did not have the chance to explain to him the importance of the Amulet, since she died, ironically, at the claws of an owlbear attacking her on a journey to Neverwinter past the ruins of old Phandalin town. She had taken the amulet off to fix a link on the chain, and did not hear the beast coming. For some decades, Big Al, as he had become known, kept it safe as a tribute to his mother, and thought to pass it on to any female who would save his life one way or another. Unfortunately, he never found love in another person, but dedicated his life entirely to his job. After his retirement, he bought an old farm on the Triboar Trail to settle down in peace and spend time in nature after a lifetime in the city. Butterskull Ranch became famous for his dairy products made with the help of his favourite cow Petunia. When his life was saved by the brave young Oola Orcheart, he decided that it was time to pass the Amulet onto her, not knowing that she would open it immediately. The wild magic had gotten even stronger over time, and sent her back to the person she loved and wanted safe the most: Her cousin Mirdrin. After years in the Lighthouse, he imbued it with some special magic formed by memories of him and them and their closeness, to aide her on her travels, wherever they led her.
Notes: being Oola Orcheart.
