Assembly Longsword (Dormant)

This Azure Longsword is made from a Crystalline Steel which produces the Azure shade of the metal-like surface of the weapon, this metal is commonly referred to in knowledgeable circles as "Blue-Steel". Engraved into the Crossguard of the sword are the Archaic Arcane runes that translate the word "Pain"; similarly inscribed along the blade of the weapon are the runes that translate to"Protection", "Power" and "Perfection".  The Carved Hilt of this Longsword is also made of Blue-Steel and wrapped in fine Leather, the Pommel is also made of the same steel and carved into it is the Symbol of the Creators of the Blade, that of the Original Cerberus Assembly from the Age of Arcanum.

Dormant

The Runes for Pain and Protection are ignited and glow with a bright Blue light. When wielded in its dormant state the Sword has 6 Charges and it gains the following properties:

• Pain. The fragmented memory of the blades original owner flares through the blade, harmlessly causing the wielder to feel the pain of every past wielder of the sword. These flares occur every time the sword is picked up, drawn or stowed, and whenever it hits a creature. 
• Protection. The Wielder of this sword can use a reaction to expend three charges from the Sword to cast the spell Counterspell at 3rd level from the sword.
• The Longsword gains a +1 bonus to Attack and Damage Rolls.

Spells cast from this Weapon uses the wielder's Spellcasting Ability modifier for the ability checks and saving throw DC's. If they have multiple Spellcasting abilities from any source, then they can choose which one to use.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
