This weapon can be simple, martial, ranged, or melee. It has 1d4 charges, and regains 1d4 charges every day, to a maximum of 5. When this weapon comes into contact with a certain element or an aspect of a certain element (that has a damage type) (determined by the dm), you may expend one charge to change the weapon's damage type to that damage type. There is also an additional 1d6 damage of the new type added to the normal damage. Spells can also be used to change the type. For example, if someone in your group casts firebolt, and your adaptive weapon was near it, you could have it change it fire.
Optional Rule: You cannot tell it to change, it just changes if it comes into contact.
Optional Rule: You don't need to come into contact with an element for it to work.
VERY Optional Rule: The dm may grant certain bonus effects with the elements, such as being able to cast a certain spell through the weapon when it is adapted to a corresponding element.
Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
Notes: Gather and surround yourself with all of the following things, as well the adaptive weapon. None are strictly necessary, but if they are not present the weapon cannot adapt to those elements. After ten minutes of meditating about the elements, and being in close contact (not necessarily touching) with them, the elements will be ingrained into the sword. Any and all ingredients that you can use in this ritual other than the adaptive weapon itself are: Ice (cold), poison (poison), holy water (radiant), a part of an undead (necrotic), a campfire or torch (fire), electricity and/or lightning (lightning), any mental or mind link or a brain if you want to go down a dark path (psychic), anything that does force damage (force). These elements may also be obtained by spells that do that type of damage. However, those spells would need to be able to be somehow preserved for 10 minutes. For example, if you don't have ice but you have the ice knife spell, you could try to keep the ice knife instead of throwing it., Versatile, Sap
