The Aed Pike has 4 charges. While holding it, you can use an action to expend 1 of its charges to cause a thin blue ray to streak from the tip toward a creature you can see within 20 feet of you. The target must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw (if they are biological) or DC 24 Constitution saving throw (if a constructed humanoid like a warforged or golem) or be paralyzed for 1 minute (or 1 hour for constructs). On a failed save, the target is lightly shocked and made uncomfortable. At the end of each of the target's turns (if they are biological), they can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on itself on a success. If they are a constructed humanoid, the repeated save is only made every 10 minutes.
The Aed Pike was created by a blend of science and magic to create a massive electrostatic discharge. It was developed to subdue and transport large creatures but may also be used by guards, law enforcement, or for crowd control. It functions by literally overwhelming a creature's nervous system with an electric charge.
When its 4 charges are expended, it functions as any 5-foot pole would.
To recharge the Aed Pike, the user would need to take it to an artificer who has knowledge of such devices or an authorizer Aed Pike dealer.
Proficiency with a Quarterstaff allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Topple. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus the ability modifier used to make the attack roll and your Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, the creature has the Prone condition.
