Weapon (double-bladed scimitar), very rare (requires attunement)

Astrum is a one of a kind double-bladed scimitar, forged in Elmsbrae and passed down it's rightful line in the Dionte family. The weapon is much longer than most double-bladed scimitars and is met for the front of the battlefield– Malina Dionte wielded it with grace and an imposing power cutting down many drow soldiers with ease in the front lines of her battalion. Battles were won and lost, and the blade has seen it all.

Astrum is unique in that it has reach, unlike typical weapons of it's kind. It is about six to seven feet in total, each blade being at least a foot in length. It's properties are born from it's unique wood elven enchantments, fused within the blade's material at the time of it's making, hundreds of years ago. It is said to have been enchanted by a wood elven storm sorcerer, blessed by an old god seemingly lost to time. The storm still rages, and is released from within the weapon when it's trusted wielder feels it most dire.

Once attuned to this item, the blade deals an extra 1d8 lightning damage on attacks when wielded with two hands.

Eye of the Tempest

When you say a command word as part of an attack action with this weapon, Astrum's runes glow aquamarine and crackle, the blades reflecting a stormy sky no matter the weather during your fight. You act as the eye of a wrathful cyclone, the blades wreathed in lightning, the winds seeming to guide your hands. When the command word is spoken, you deal an extra 2d6 lightning damage on a hit once per turn. This lasts for three rounds after the initial hit, then dissipates. This effect has three charges per day, and has a cooldown period between charges of at least three rounds.

On a critical hit, if not unconscious, the target must roll a constitution saving throw or be blinded. The target can make another constitution saving throw at the end of each of it's turns. The DC for this saving throw is 17.

Gifts of the Windswept Pines

If attuned to by a spellcaster, Astrum has three charges, regained by a long rest, to cast any of the following spells:

The double-bladed scimitar is the signature weapon of Valenar elves. A haft of fine wood supports a long, curving blade on either end. Forged with techniques honed over centuries, these blades are strong, sharp, and remarkably light. Each scimitar is a masterpiece, and as a result the double-bladed scimitar is an expensive weapon (100 gp) — few though ever have the opportunity to purchase one. A Valenar blade in the hands of a non-elf is generally assumed to have been stolen or looted from a fallen foe, and a Valenar elf might feel entitled to demand its return or challenge the bearer to prove they’re worthy to wield it.

Special. If you attack with a double-bladed scimitar as part of the Attack action on your turn, you can use a bonus action immediately after to make a melee attack with it. This attack deals 1d4 slashing damage on a hit, instead of 2d4.
