Arcanium is rock infused with arcane energy. Although pure arcanium of each school of magic exists, the most common form is an iridescent alloy that contains a mixture all schools.
An arcane spellcaster may use the arcanium alloy in place of any or all material components of a spell with a combined cost of 50 gp or less. If the spell consumes the component, the arcanium alloy is consumed in the same way. Additionally, the arcanium alloy may be used as a spellcasting focus.
When a character casts a spell using arcanium alloy as a material component, they must make a saving throw against their own spell DC. On a failed save, roll on the Wild Magic Surge table to create a magical effect. If the spell normally requires concentration, it doesn't require concentration in this case; the spell lasts for the full duration.
