A dark presence looms over this obsidian shield. Emblazoned on it's face is a dark, shadowy skull which has dark hollow sockets for eyes. No matter the direction you look at it from, it's as if the eyes are staring right back at you.
Avatar of Myrkul's Armaments: The Shield of the Carrion Knight is part of a set. For each additional item the bearer is attuned to, the base stat modifiers will increase by 1.
Vitality of an Ancient Deity: While wielding and being attuned to the Shield of the Carrion Knight, the bearer gains the increased resolve of Myrkul. In result, their Constitution score increases by 2.
Ashes of Life: While wielding the Shield of the Carrion Knight, when you kill a creature you gain a charge of Life Force Ash.
Life Force Ash: As an Action, you may spend your Life Force Ash for various effects.
(Repelling Blow: When an enemy makes an attack against you, you may expend a charge forcing them to make a STR Saving Throw (14) or be pushed back 10ft. and knocked prone. A successful save and the creature does not go prone.)
(Sands of the Life Keeper: As an Action, you may spend any number of charges to regain health equal to 1d8 per Life Force Shard.)
(Step of Death: When you are forced to make a Dexterity Saving Throw and fail, you may expend a charge to succeed instead. This ability can only be used once per long rest.)
Death is Unwavering: While you are attuned to the Shield of the Carrion Knight and fail all three Death Saving Throws, you have the option of instantly succeeding them and stabilizing at full health at the cost of a permanent loss of a level in your highest class. (If any number of classes are tied for highest, the most recent level is removed instead.)
"The only certainty life contains... Is death."
