Wondrous Item, legendary (requires attunement by a by a sentient creature.)

This fetching five-point crown of platinum, lined with gold filigree and adorned with resplendent ruby, enchanting emerald, stunning sapphire, dazzling diamond and opulent opal, grants the wearer incredible savvy in the acquisition, appraisal and bartering of valuables. This cursed item, under magical scrutiny, identifies to non-draconids as a 'Crown of Wealth'. Kobolds, dragonborn and other draconic races feel no magical properties from this crown, though anyone else can detect potent enchantments in the accessory. It is, however, secretly a trap, a cursed artifact crafted by a cunning Ancient Green Dragon to punish those who would be so bold or greedy as to find their wealth from a dragon's hoard.

When a non-draconic being attunes to the Gimme Crown, they gain affluence in the art of appraisal, unnatural savvy in the game of haggling and bartering, and an intuition as to their possessions. Any skill checks relating to discerning the value, sale, trade or buying of an item will add their proficiency bonus to the roll, treating it as expertise if they already are proficient. This bonus also applies to their passive perception when it comes to theft of their property. At will, the wearer may ritually cast Locate Object on any possession that was stolen from them. Removing the Gimme Crown requires a DC 22 Wisdom Save.

Every day that the crown's powers are utilized, the DM makes a secret percentile roll. The first time this percentile roll is under 20, the wearer becomes a chromatic Dragonborn, dependant on their dominant attribute, and the crown fuses to their physical form, becoming jeweled ridges and horns. Strength for White, Wisdom for Blue, Intelligence for Green, Dexterity for Black, Charisma for Red. This transformation instills a strong sense of entitlement and greed to the wearer's ideals. After this transformation, the percentile roll continues, but will not affect the wearer further until a roll under 10 occurs. When this happens, the wearer becomes a Kobold, and the crown is returned to its normal, dormant state until another sentient creature attunes to it. This transformation further warps the creature's mental state, and in the presence of a true dragon or their hoard, they are bound to servitude. Any Wisdom Saves made against a dragon are made with disadvantage.

These transformations are considered equivalent to the Reincarnate spell, and thus cannot be dispelled or decursed. Strong transmutation magic, divine intervention or a Wish spell will be required return the creature to their original form.

Notes: by a sentient creature.
