Weapon (shortsword), very rare (requires attunement by a creature, to whom attunement grants the Aetherfang feat)

A shortsword honed from the tooth of an adult black shadow dragon. The ultra-dense ivory had been honed to a razor-sharp edge with a delicate curve; it was already an elegant weapon, and deadly in the right hands. An ancient artifact bound to the Ethereal Plane was then destroyed and the magic bound to the sword as well, causing the blade to became ghostly and semi-transparent. It now exists in a state of constant flux between the prime material and the Ethereal, which allows this weapon to pierce almost any defense. The leather which wraps the hilt and  scabbard of this blade comes from the hide of the shadow dragon, and the pommel and quillon are inlayed with mithril.

This magical weapon increases in effectiveness along with its wielder. You have a bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon equal to half your Proficiency Bonus (rounded down).

Spells: While holding this weapon you can cast the following spells from it: Aether Weapon (at will, and does not require concentration while you hold Aetherfang in the other hand), Ghost Form (at 6th level, once per long rest).

Ethereal Echoes: Once per short rest, as a bonus action on your turn, you can choose to create two shadowy echoes of yourself within your space. You become cloaked in shadows at the same time, and the echoes move with you and mimic your actions, shifting position so it's impossible to track which image is real.

A creature is unaffected by this effect if it can't see, if it relies on senses other than sight, such as blindsight, or if it can perceive illusions as false, as with truesight.

Each time an affected creature targets you with an attack during the spell's duration, roll a d20 to determine whether the attack instead targets one of your echoes. With two echoes, you must roll an 8 or higher. With one echo, you must roll an 11 or higher. An echo's AC equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier. If an attack hits an echo, the echo is destroyed. An echo can be destroyed only by an attack that hits it. It ignores all other damage and effects except for Dispel Magic. The effect ends when both echoes are destroyed.

Additionally, while you have at least one echo remaining, you have advantage on attack rolls against any affected creature, given how distracting the echo is to the target.
