Weapon (javelin), common

A device capable of enhancing the speed of a thrown object, increasing range and damage.

An atlatl is most efficient when used with atlatl darts, dealing a base of 2d6+4 piercing damage with +3 to your attack rolls, and with a range of 120/380 feet. Loading the atlatl with atlatl darts is treated the same as it is with a crossbow or bow.

However, during your turn, you may instead choose to use your action to attach the atlatl to any weapon with the Thrown trait that is rod-shaped (e.g. darts, javelins, spears, etc.). You may instead use your bonus action if you have proficiency with the thrown weapon. Once attached, the thrown weapon's damage is enhanced by 1d4+1, and you add +1 to hit, +20 ft. to Normal Range, and +40 ft. Long Range.

If used as a melee weapon, the atlatl does 1d6 bludgeoning damage + your Strength modifier.

Proficiency with a Javelin allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.
