This alien looking greataxe has sharpened blades that run along the outside of the handle and the shaft ends in a sharpened spike. The broad axe blade has a flat top for blunt force attacks. The entire thing appears to be made out of an extraplanar metal alloy of some unknown origin. Overall it is an incredibly light weight weapon for its size.
You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon, which has the versatile (2d12) weapon property. In addition, the weapon ignores resistance to slashing damage.
You gain a +3 bonus to AC while wielding the weapon.
This weapon does not have the heavy and two-handed weapon properties of a normal greataxe.
It has the thrown weapon property with a normal range of 20 feet and a long range of 60 feet. When you hit with a ranged attack with this weapon, it deals an extra 1d12 damage. In addition, the weapon can be used to make a melee attack with either the top of the axe for 1d8 bludgeoning damage or the spike at the bottom of the shaft for 1d8 piercing damage. Both such attacks must be made with the weapon in two hands, and do not gain the benefit of the versatile weapon property.
When you attack a creature that has at least one head with this weapon and roll a 20 on the attack roll, you cut off one of the creature's heads. The creature dies if it can't survive without the lost head. A creature is immune to this effect if it is immune to slashing damage, doesn't have or need a head, has legendary actions, or the GM decides that the creature is too big for its head to be cut off with this weapon. Such a creature instead takes an extra 6d12 slashing damage from the hit. You must be using the weapon to deal slashing damage in order to make use of this function.
Proficiency with a Greataxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Cleave. If you hit a creature with a melee attack roll using this weapon, you can make a melee attack roll with the weapon against a second creature within 5 feet of the first that is also within your reach. On a hit, the second creature takes the weapon’s damage, but don’t add your ability modifier to that damage unless that modifier is negative. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
Notes: Damage, Combat, Heavy, Two-Handed, Cleave
