Weapon (rifle, hunting), rare

Aurora is a unique firearm from 483 years in the future. Originally called the Falling Star rifle, it was made by the artificer Tyeq in the year 524 of the 2nd era and is a beautifully crafted piece of weaponry that has devastating potential in the right hands.

Aurora comes with two kinds of ammunition, standard and rimequartz. standard ammunition will do the regular amount of damage, and rimequartz will do an extra 1d10 of cold damage. When using rimequartz ammunition, any attack made that both lands on its target and rolled a die value of a 19 or higher before modifiers will reduce the target's speed by ten and reduce their armor class by two. This effect cannot be reduced by any means and lasts until the end of your next turn.

It’s up to you to decide whether a character has proficiency with a firearm. Characters in most D&D worlds wouldn’t have such proficiency. During their downtime, characters can use the training rules in the Player’s Handbook to acquire proficiency, assuming that they have enough ammunition to keep the weapons working while mastering their use.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.

Notes: Range, Two-Handed, Ammunition (Firearms), Reload, Slow
