Weapon (scimitar), very rare (requires attunement by a creature)

Sentient Weapon. Death's Edge has an Intelligence of 12, is Neutral Evil, and can detect the presence of warm-blooded creatures within 30 feet. It communicates empathically by means of bitter chill infusing its hilt.

Death's Edge has a hilt of bone and a black steel blade. It gives a +1 bonus to attack rolls and damage. In addition, when used against warm-blooded creatures, the bonus becomes +2. If a natural 20 is rolled on an attack, the weapon's blade flickers with a thin film of negative energy, inflicting an additional 4d4 necrotic damage.

This weapon can be wielded by any creature, but non-evil, warm-blooded wielders suffer 4d4 necrotic damage when a natural 20 is rolled on an attack, and any protections on the wielder against the effects of the Negative Energy Plane are ineffective while the blade is wielded.

Proficiency with a Scimitar allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.


This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Nick. When you make the extra attack of the Light property, you can make it as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
