Wondrous Item, uncommon

Arcane watches, pocket watches, and clocks come in a variety of shapes and forms. Those who want something special tend to have personal or designer watches and clocks altered with magic to become the arcane variant. Many of an Arcane Watch's abilities are programmed using illusion magic. The face of many of the watches looks like a constantly churning black whirlpool like portal with the same consistency as thick ink. Instead of numbers there are twelve dully glowing white stars, with three much smaller stars evenly spaced between the twelve large ones. Within the center of the face is a small glowing purple orb projecting purple pointed translucent lines for the second, minute, and hour hands. Pulling on the adjustment knob can be used to set primary location when in time mode. The crown on the adjustment knob can be turned to display the temperature, time, or compass. Turing the knob will also switch between primary location time and current location time. While in either time mode an alarm can be set (using the Alarm spell) by pressing on the crystal face until the purple orb starts flashing (about one second or so), turning the knob clockwise to set the time, and then press on the face until the orb stops flashing. To remove an alarm one must make a counter clockwise turn while the orbs is flashing to cycle through each alarm on the appropriate time mode. When the correct alarm is displayed pulling on the knob will remove it. When ever the pocket watch is closed it stays on the current mode.

In temperature mode If it is above freezing a red sun will be displayed and expand outward from the center as the heat raises, and contract as the temperature drops. If the temperature is at or below freezing a blue ice color and texture will expand inward from the edge of the face of the watch as temperature drops. When in temperature mode the purple crystal orb is not displayed; it instead dims and become a clear orb. Tapping the crystal cover on the face of the watch will briefly display the time or temperature depending on it's current mode. This is displayed in common, draconic, and under common as white lettering outlined in grey.

The compass mode is displayed in a similar way as watch and temperature mode; it shares the same swirling black background. The North, South, East, And West directions are displayed as 4 bright white stars, with the north star pulses. The sub directions (NE, SE, SW, NW) are displayed as 4 smaller dimmer stars. The small glowing purple orb in the center projects a purple pointed translucent line in the direction of north. While in compass mode the crystal covering can be tapped to produce a light using the Light spell; this light lasts as long as the watch face is not tapped again in this mode. In compass mode the knob can also be pulled to point toward where the holder wants to go, the nearest natural fresh water source, and nearest form of shelter. The longer the purple pointed translating lines are the father away the location is. Distance and location is displayed in the previously stated languages in small lettering. The line and lettering becomes larger as you turn in the direction of each location.

By pressing in the knob stop watch mode is activated, and releasing pressure starts the timer (from mid-night). Pressing the knob in again stops the timer; the timer with start counting from zero (mid-night) again when pressed. The timer will also rest after thirty seconds or if the watch is closed. Regardless of mode the face of the watch always produces a dim light so the face can be seen.
