Staff, artifact (requires attunement)

Aluneth was once a being of pure arcane energy. An archmage, whose name is lost to time, bound the entity into the staff, channeling its destructive power to instead protect. The staff was passed down from archmage to archmage, until Aluneth was also lost in history.

Aluneth is a Chaotic Neutral weapon with an intelligence of 22, charisma of 16, and wisdom of 14. Being attuned to this weapon, for those rare enough to, allows you to speak telepathically with it in every language you speak.

Aluneth has a +3 bonus to spell attacks.

Mana Charge - Aluneth contains 10 charges of Mana. These charges can be spent as a bonus action in addition to a spell cast as your action. The adjustments are as follows:

- Extend (2 Mana) - If the spell has a duration of 1 minute, the duration is doubled up to 24 hours.

- Empower (1-4 Mana) - When rolling for damage, you can reroll one damage die per mana spent. You take the higher of the two.

- Distant (3 Mana) - If the spell has a range of 5 feet or greater, the range is doubled. If it is a touch spell, it can be cast with a range of 30 feet.

- Divert (1-5 Mana) - If the spell can damage multiple targets, expend from 1-5 mana and allow one target per mana to avoid the damage of the spell.

-Arcane Barrage - You also gain the ability to perform a greatly empowered magic missile spell once per day. You expend all of Aluneth's stored mana charges, dealing 2d4 + 2 force damage per mana consumed. This ability can be increased even more by spending a spell slot, adding an additional 1d4 +1 to the spell per level.

Mana charges do not reset naturally. Instead, Aluneth requires spellcasting to replenish its power.

If you cast a spell with no modifier from Aluneth, it will gain mana charges equal to half of the spell level, rounding down. (ex: 5th level spells reset 2 charges. A 1st level spell will reset no charges.)

If Aluneth is at zero charges, make a Wisdom saving throw of 20. If you fail the saving throw, Aluneth will consume one of your highest level spell slots and gain 1 mana charge no matter the level
