You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. Any time after you make an attack roll, but before rolling for damage, you can choose to sacrifice 25% of your max HP (rounded down) to deal an additional 2d6 (+ HP sacrificed) piercing damage.
Proficiency with a Dagger allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Nick. When you make the extra attack of the Light property, you can make it as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
Notes: First time ever using DDB. Need criticism to see if this homebrewed magic weapon is balanced, please comment!, Damage, Combat, Finesse, Light, Thrown, Nick
An excellent concept, but I think the rarity is a little low. An enchantment of this power usually requires attunement, and is probably rare/very rare. The primary reasoning behind this judgment is the enchantment scales phenomenally well, and even more so for barbarians/fighters. At level 10, it would not be unreasonable for a barbarian/fighter to have 100hp, and then one hit with this does 1d4 + 2d6 + 31. Compared to a +1 greatsword with great weapon master being just 2d6 + 16, and this hit has a minus 5 penalty to hit whereas the attack with the dagger doesn't. Any character with one hp could also just stab something, use the sacrifice effect to pile on an obscene amount of damage while only taking effectively one damage in return. Just my two cents.
I recommend adding charges to the sacrifice damage say 3 per long rest as you have to account for short rests and healing reducing the negative trade off
Good work! I think it should be rare, instead of uncommon, but it’s a great idea! I love it!
It seems I can't edit my magic item, but the implication is the HP sacrificing effect can potentially kill the user
Just for laughs, a HalfOrc 16 lvl Barb 4 lvl Fighter with the tough feat and 20 Str and 20 Con. Rage, action surge, frenzy. Relentless endurance to get in that 5th hit. You average 443 damage, all from an uncommon item. Sounds a bit strong for an uncommon if you ask me. I do absolutely love this idea though, dont get me wrong. Maybe swap % for set d6s? Just a suggestion
I am a big fan of magic items that require some sort of sacrifice to use and this is a really cool idea. However, this seems strong for an Uncommon magic item. I don't think you need to add 2d6 to the damage increase. I think the sac'd hp is enough extra damage.
This will be perfect for a rouge in my campaign.
