Planepiercer doesn't require arrows, its conjured arrows are created when you pull back the string and can move through solid objects without harming them until the arrow hits the target or dissipates at your maximum range.
This property allows you to ignore half- and three-quarters cover if it's presented by a non-creature. The arrow stops in the first creature it meets in the line you are shooting it in.
Proficiency with a Light Crossbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
