When using your chef's skills, you can expend a number of charges per portion of distributed meal to do either of the following effects.
If you are preparing Special Food, you can attempt to put your heart in it (not literally). You can expend any number of remaining charges to make a cooking check (1d20 + proficiency modifier) with a DC 12. On a success, a number of portions equal to the expended number of charges have the ability to refill 1d8 hit points, even if the consumer did not use Hit Dice during the Short Rest.
If you are preparing Cook's Treats, you can expend 2 charges per treat to increase the consumer's gained temporary hit points equal to 1d10, or a minimum of your proficiency bonus + 1.

Revitatula has 5 charges and it recharges 1d6-1 lost charges every day at dawn - it can recharge 0 charges.
