When you load a bullet on this rifle, it whispers in Infernal, "Your imminent doom draws near" When you use this weapon to make a ranged attack, you can, as a command phrase, say, "A dreadful end to the unfortunate soul within my sight" The target of your attack becomes your cursed enemy until it dies or until dawn seven days later. You can have only one such cursed enemy at a time. When your cursed enemy dies, you can choose a new one after the next dawn.
When you make a ranged attack roll with this weapon against your cursed enemy, you have advantage on the roll. In addition, your target gains no benefit from cover, other than total cover, and you suffer no disadvantage due to long range. If the attack hits, your cursed enemy takes an extra 4d8 necrotic damage.
While your cursed enemy lives, you have disadvantage on attack rolls with all other weapons.
It’s up to you to decide whether a character has proficiency with a firearm. Characters in most D&D worlds wouldn’t have such proficiency. During their downtime, characters can use the training rules in the Player’s Handbook to acquire proficiency, assuming that they have enough ammunition to keep the weapons working while mastering their use.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
