This is a pair of rings. The two rings work in harmony with one another. One ring allows the wearer to become larger as the spell enlarge and the other ring allows the wearer to shrink down as the spell reduce. When both rings are worn on opposite hands, the rings do nothing. If one ring is turned upside down (the adorning stone faces down) the other's magic becomes prevalent and the wearer is altered accordingly. If one ring is used without the other, the enchantment will not activate.
Adelheid was a warrior rogue in the second age. She would shrink down to sneak past her enemies or her targets and when she was backed into a corner she would enlarge to increase her strength and fighting power. An effective combination to be sure. She retired and passed the rings on to another who did not use them to great effect and was killed. The rings were lost.
