The Plane of Shadow Cubic Gate Face can be attached to a Cubic Gate Core as part of the assembly of a customized Cubic Gate. Only the most talented of arcanists, astral travelers, and artificers are capable of constructing such a device, and the magical item does not begin to function until all six faces have been keyed and assembled.

A customized Cubic Gate cannot contain any more than one Plane of Shadow Cubic Gate Face. When activated a Cubic Gate with this face can access the Shadowfell, also known as the Plane of Shadow, a realm of darkness parallel to the Material Plane from which wielders of the Shadow Weave draw their power.
