Wand, rare (requires attunement)

This wooden wand is surrounded by metal rings closing in on a luminous orb.

This item can be attached to and used by a steel defender.

This item has 6 charges. It regains 2d3 charges at dawn. If you expend its last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the item loses one of its configurations permanently. Roll a d3 to determine which.

This item has 3 configurations. Only one can be used at a time. An action can be used to switch between the configurations. The steel defender may use this action instead of the Dodge action after you verbally command him to. It has the following configurations:

1 - As an action, you may expend 1 charge. The items shoots a yellow beam at a creature it can see within 30 feet. It must make a DC 14 Charisma Saving Throw or enter a serene state for one minute. It may try again at the end of every turn. It also has advantage if you or your allies are attacking it. In this serene state, the creature is considerd charmed by you or an ally of your choice.
2 - As an action, you may expend 1 charge. The item shoots a blue beam at a creature it can see within 60 feet. Make an attack roll against the creature using your proficiency bonus on the attack roll. On a hit, it deals 3d6 psychic damage.
3 - As an action, you may expend 3 charges. The item shoots a green beam at a point it can see within 120 feet. An orb of energy explodes out of that point with a radius of 20 feet. Any creature in that orb must make a DC 14 Intelligence Saving Throw or have its mind dampend and all of its processing slowed for one minute. It may try again at the end of every turn. The creature can't take reactions. On its turn, it may only take either an action or a bonus action, not both. No matter what, it may only make one attack as part of the Attack action. It also has a -2 penalty to Dexterity Saving Throws and AC. If the creature attempts to cast a spell, it must roll a d20. On a 11 or higher, the spell doesn't take effect until the next turn, and the creature must spend its action on that turn as well.
