Hidden within this seemingly mundane wooden cane rests a mithril blade of exceptional quality as well as an ingenious application of engineering. The cane sword comes in two parts: The scabbard bears a space for the blade to rest along with a series of fine springs at the inner tip that become wound up and taut upon sheathing the blade. The springs along the inner tip of the sheath along with the locking mechanism along the top of the sheath meant to hold the handle firmly in place result in a lightning fast quickdraw!
Upon unsealing the blade, or more specifically releasing the lock, the taut springs push the blade upwards from within the sheath and the mithril blade, which is extremely light, is ejected out of the scabbard and into the arms of the wielder! The wielder of this weapon has advantage on initiative rolls and can deal slashing or piercing.
Iaijutsu Strike
The wielder can deliver a strike of such peerless skill and speed that becomes impossible for witnesses to perceive. He must verbally announce his intent before using his full round action to make his attack roll. Upon making a successful attack roll, instead of rolling damage die the target then rolls an insight check (DC 10 + 1/2 class level + WIS modifier). Upon a success the target realizes that something is wrong with their body and is overcome with a great sense of foreboding as they realize that it's important for them to be healed right away as they somehow are at death's door! They must waste their next turn attempting to heal themselves or receive healing of any amount and check their body for signs of harm before the wielder's next turn to negate the effects of Iaijutsu Strike.
Upon a failure the target perceives that the strike was a miss as their body seems to be intact. The iaijutsu strike leaves the target with a lethal wound so narrow and clean that targets struck cant register them! The wielder can try to slay the victim after six seconds have elapsed as long as the attempt is made within a number of days equal to wielder's level. To make such an attempt, they merely will the target to die (a free action), and unless the target makes a Fortitude saving throw (DC 10 + 1/2 class level + Wis modifier), it dies. If the saving throw is successful, the target is no longer in danger from that particular iaijutsu strike, but it may still be affected by another one at a later time. The wielder can use this Iaijutsu attack once per day and creatures immune to critical hits cannot be affected by Iaijutsu Strike..
Proficiency with a Shortsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
