Wondrous Item, uncommon

This 6" brass disk has a finely cut quartz gem inlaid in its center with two hooks protruding from its underside. When attached to a mundane item, three dwarven runes carve themselves onto the disk around the gem. Additionally, the quartz crystal fills with a dimly lit blue fog.

When given one or more magical items along with valuable gems, the splicer combines the effects of the items and applies a new enchantment with the merged abilities of the ones offered to the item it is attached to. The items offered are destroyed in the process. The resulting enchantment is determined by the DM.

The time it takes for the splicer to finish transferring enchantments increases based on the rarity of the item offered. Common magical items require 3d6 hours, Uncommon magical items require 3d6 days of time, and each increased rarity afterward requires an additional 3d6 plus 7 days per rarity (7 for rare items, 14 for very rare). The Arcane Splicer cannot process legendary items or artifacts.

When an item is offered, it floats above the quartz crystal which begins to glow brightly along with the runes etched around the perimeter. The offering is slowly disintegrated which can be used to monitor the Splicer's progress. A second offering cannot be made until the first is finished and the process cannot be interrupted or else it will fail and the offering will be destroyed. 1d4 days of processing can be taken off of the total time per 200gp of gems placed on the runes surrounding the disk.
