This curved blade is beautifully balanced, crafted of a special alloy forged of the arcane sands of the Borderdune Rivers, lightened mithral and sturdy adamantine, in a process known and guarded jealously by the lineage of the founders of Aujir. It thrums and sings in a low, magical rhythm as it is swung, and parries blows as easily as the most stalwart shield.
- You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
- If this weapon is being wielded in the off-hand, it is considered a shield and grants the standard 2 AC bonus without hampering off-hand weapon attacks.
- Alto: At the start of your turn, you may choose to trade the +1 attack and damage bonus for a +1 AC bonus.
Resonance (The Dervish's Song)
Contralto was forged the twin to a brother blade, Tenor, and resonates in kind with its sibling sword. When they are wielded and attuned as a pair, the blades become empowered by one another, the humming guard-blade coupling with the whistling death-dealer to unleash their true crescendo in a dervish whirl of singing steel.
- Contralto is now considered a +3 weapon, has 6 charges and regains 1d4+2 expended charges daily at dawn.
- Alto may now trade anywhere from +1 to +3 of its bonuses between your attack and damage rolls and your AC.
- Mezzo (1 charge): As a reaction, the wielder may use the thrumming arcane resonance and piercing sonic wail of their blades to disperse even energy attacks. When taking an instance of damage that isn't bludgeoning, piercing or slashing, reduce that damage by half, then gain resistance to that damage type until the end of your next round. The wielder is able to unleash Mezzo-Soprano through Contralto, or Crescendo through both weapons, while they have this resistance.
- Soprano: As a bonus action, the wielder may expend their Mezzo into Soprano, causing the harmonized energy in Contralto to thrum outwards in a protective melodic wave. Until the end of your next round, you and all allies within earshot gain resistance to the given damage type. As a free action, the wielder may spend a charge at the start of their turn to continue Soprano's effects.
- Crescendo: As an action, the wielder may expend their Mezzo, Countertenor or both to unleash a powerful, explosive finale with the gathered energies. This special attack is a 30-foot radial burst; the number of damage die is determined by Countertenor, whilst the damage type is determined by Mezzo. On a failed Constitution save (DC 17), each creature in range excluding the wielder takes 5d8 force damage, and a number of additional d8 damage die of the Mezzo resistance type equal to your Countertenor. Upon unleashing this attack, Contralto and Tenor are not considered Resonant until the next dawn.
Proficiency with a Scimitar allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
