This length of spiked chain was once part of a set that was used to restrain a powerful being. This specific length of chain was used to disable this beings magical abilities, sapping the magic used as it was cast.

This weapon has 3 charges.

You can expend all 3 charges to cast dispel magic (using your dexterity score if a check is required) against anything you strike with it (including worn or carried items) 

You can expend all 3 charges to cast counterspell against a spell that targets only you.

you can spend a single charge on a hit to deal an additional 3d8 force damage.

 

Charges reset on a Long Rest

Proficiency with a Whip allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.


This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.
