At first glance, this great and storied item appears to be a simple glittering black face mask with two eyeholes, but wearing it immediately proves it is immensely powerful. The skintight mask of sheer silver and silk weave covers the wearers entire head and seems to bond slightly with the skin around the eyes, lips, and cheekbones. An obsidian gem glistens between the two eye holes, and it is tight enough for others to see expressions and lip movement. However, it easily obscures identifying features and disguises the wearers voice in a hollow monotone. It has the following additional features:
Spells: The mask grants the wearer additional spells every day. The mask adds 1 to all spell slots the wearer has and also allows the wearer to cast the following spells - Detect Magic (3xday), Dispel Magic (2xday), and True Seeing (1xday). These spells do not count against your spell slots. The mask also imparts one new spell per level of any level the wearer can cast.
Longevity: The mask, if worn regularly, adds as many as 800 years to the wearers life span. For every year the mask is worn at least eight hours each day, the mask adds twenty years to the wearer.
Magical Defenses: The mask functions as an Amulet of Proof Against Detection and Location, and gives disadvantage to others on Perception checks to see or hear the wearer. The wearer is Immune to all Illusion spells and effects while wearing the mask.
Sentience: Andrathath's Mask is a sentient Chaotic Good item with an Intelligence of 16, a wisdom of 11, and a Charisma of 18. It has Darkvision out to a range of 120'. The mask can read and understand common, elven, and draconic, and communicates with its wearer telepathically. It's voice is light and melodic, and while you are attuned it knows every language you know.
Personality: Andrathath's Mask seeks glory for itself and also of its wearer. It gives its new wearer the name of "The Masked" and urges them to bring favor to the name, and all who have bore it before them. It urges it's new owner into battle, regardless of the odds, and doesn't care about the welfare of his/her companions. It is very possessive of the wearer and seeks to be worn constantly. If not worn at least eight hours every day it triggers a contest of wills, likewise, if the wearer goes to sleep without the mask, it moves slowly to place itself onto the wearers face, automatically fitting perfectly.
