An old axe, rough around the edges, the wooden handle splintering and falling apart and the blade seemingly blunt when looked upon by a common observer but when look upon by someone attuned to it, the blade gleams with magic, reflecting light that hits it. A blue gem is welded between where the handle meets the metal. To all, the axe has words written along the metal in Giant reading Maveith Deerheart Anakalathai. The person who is attuned to this weapon can gaze into the blue gem in the middle and see what looks to be people floating around inside, these people being the souls of the victims of this axe. The person attuned can also occasionally hear the voices of those inside the axe. The axe does 1d12 slashing damage.
Summoning Souls
As an action you can summon a soul, using a command word, from the inside the axe to help you in battle. The soul takes the form of a ghost (use ghost stats.) The Ghost lasts until you banish it back into the axe, until it loses all of its hit points or until after 3 minutes. When summoning a soul, every creature within a 5 ft radius makes a Charisma saving throw DC 14. On a failed save, the creatures take 2d6 necrotic damage. You can do this 3 times per long rest.
Maintaining Control
At the start of every round you must make a Charisma check to maintain control of the Ghost DC 12. This may vary depending on type of ghost and relationship with it e.g. better relationship is a lower check, worse relationship is a higher check, alignment matching with the character (good/evil) may be a lower check, alignment not matching with the character (good/evil) may be a higher check, neutral is unchanging (DM's discretion). On a failed check, you lose control of the spirit and it either flees or begins attacking of its own will.
Gaining Souls
When gaining this axe, it starts off with 6 souls. Every 5 kills you have a 20% chance of gaining a new soul. Either you or your DM will roll a d100/% to see if you gain the soul. If you roll an 80 or over, you gain a new soul.
Proficiency with a Greataxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Cleave. If you hit a creature with a melee attack roll using this weapon, you can make a melee attack roll with the weapon against a second creature within 5 feet of the first that is also within your reach. On a hit, the second creature takes the weapon’s damage, but don’t add your ability modifier to that damage unless that modifier is negative. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
