Long ago, a dying man fell unconscious on the doorstep of a fisherman. The fisherman was kindhearted, and took the man inside, healing him to the best of his ability. The man soon woke, and begged the fisherman to hear his story, and the fisherman agreed. The story he regaled was as such; "I have no name, for it was cursed away, and I will get to that later. I am only known as the Master Thief. Long ago, I was a young boy, and poor. However, I was a smooth talker, and could lie and scam enough to live, and I did contently, for a while. But I eventual became a young man, to handsome for his own good, and grew greedy. I could convince anyone of anything I thought, and that was not far from the truth. I left my town, and headed to a large port city, and wooed the wife of a wealthy merchant, and together we robbed him blind and ran away. I was gone with the gold when she woke up. I preformed many such scams, and became rich and infamous, though none knew my face, for I was skilled in deceit. I found the thief guild in the capital, and within a week, took over. when I was 33, I did what none had done before. I beat a god at his own game. Through my exploits, I gained the eye of a god, I did not find out which. He summoned me, and demanded my servitude. I said I would if he could beat me in a game of knucklebones, and he laughed. He said he agreed, and asked what I wanted if I won, and after a moment I said his armor. He chuckled, and agreed. during our game, I worked my magic as I had never before, speaking so powerfully that I distracted him enough to out-cheat him and win. He was furious, and cursed my name away so no being would ever know it, but he could not harm me, for I had won. The armor was powerful, and brought me much wealth, but it was not to last. At the age of 57, my closest companions were resentful, and wanted my wealth. They snuck into my room, stabbed me, and stole the key to my vaults. My armor kept me alive, so I fled. However, I could no longer find sanctuary, because my betrayers were thorough, and I could not do my scams, because they reveled what my armor looked like. I grew poor once more, and eventual built a hut in the woods, and survived for a time. however, eventually the bounty hunters found me, have me my wound, and I had to run. I had a gem of great power, that I broke to teleport away, away from the hunters and my betrayers, away from the continent entirely, and I ended up here." At that final word, the master thief died. The fisherman buried the now not so stranger, and said his prayers. He then put on the armor, and walked into the woods to die.
