This amulet is constructed of a heavy, dark grey metal. It depicts a smiling demonic face wreathed in flames, with two dull red gems for eyes and a long, twisted tongue. When a living humanoid is killed by the wearer, they may chose to speak the amulet's command word. If done, the amulet's eyes sine a bright red, and the soul of the slain humanoid is withdrawn from the ethereal plane and sucked into the amulet. The eyes of the amulet then glow a persistent dim red until the soul is expended.
When containing a soul, the wearer may speak the amulet's command word as a bonus action to gain advantage on one attack roll, ability check, or saving throw. In addition, when the wearer falls unconscious, they may spend the soul within the amulet to gain advantage on one death saving throw of their choice. They may decide to expend the soul before or after the death saving throw has been rolled. This includes a death saving throw that would cause the wearer to perish (i.e. a third failed save), but cannot be applied to death saving throws lost from damage taken after falling unconscious.
The amulet cannot contain more than one soul at any given time. The fate of any soul expended in the above ways is unclear, although such types of dark magic often imply soul destruction or eternal enslavement.
