Lost for ages in the Underdark, Aetherius appears to be a blackened longsword hilt. While grasping the hilt, you can use a bonus action to make a blade of shadowed twilight spring from the hilt, or cause the blade to disappear.
While holding the weapon, you can use an action to touch a creature with the blade. The creature must roll a DC 13 Wisdom save or be frightened. Once used, this ability can’t be used again until you complete a long rest. When attacking with the weapon, it deals an extra 1d6 Force damage on a successful hit.
Sentience. Aetherius is a sentient weapon with an Intelligence of 15, a Wisdom of 12, and a Charisma of 14. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 120 feet.
The sword can speak, read, and understand Common, and it can communicate with its wielder telepathically. Its voice is deep and mysterious. It knows every language you know while you’re attuned to it.
Personality. Aetherius is meant to strike fear in those it challenges. It is dark and fearless to those in its way, fierce and destructive to its enemies. Once attuned to its wielder it will attempt to make them follow in its dark ways. The sword is always tempting the wielder to intimidate and provoke others. To reflect this add a +1 bonus to intimidation rolls when the sword is active.
Long years lost in darkness Aetherius prefers that its blade always be present in all combat, and it strongly resists being parted from its wielder for any length of time.
Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
