Aegavult, The Hexdrinker

Aegavult, The Hexdrinker is a +2 Longsword with a deep Maroon Crystalline blade. Its very presence weakens and potentially nullifies harmful magics.

A creature gains no benefits to their Armor Class from The Shield spell, Mage armor, or similar effects against attacks made by this weapon. Attacks made with this weapon cannot have disadvantage opposed upon them from the Blur spell and other similar magical effects, as the nature of the blade suppresses such effects by its sheer presence.

Aegavult, The Hexdrinker can hold a number of charges equal to the Attuned Wielder's Paladin level. It regains a number of charges equal to the Attuned Paladin's Charisma modifier at the end of a Short or Long Rest. The Charges can be used in the following ways.

• When you hit a creature with The Hexdrinker, you may expend charges to deal 1d8 force damage per charge expended, up to 5d8 per attack. this feature cannot be used on the same attack as your Divine Smite feature.
• When you hit a creature with The Hexdrinker, you may expend 2 charges to cast Dispel Magic upon the creature as part of the attack. Charisma is your spellcasting modifier for this spell.
• You can use an action and expend 2 charges to cast Dispel Magic as a 3rd level spell. Charisma is your spellcasting modifier for this spell.
• as a bonus action, you can expend any number of charges to gain 1d6 temporary hit points per charge expended. These hit points last until the end of the next Long Rest.
• When a creature in your Aura of Warding (including you) fails a saving throw against a harmful spell, you can expend a number of charges equal to the spell's level (minimum 1) to cause them to succeed instead as a reaction.
• You can regain expended spell slots as an action. Spend any number of charges, and regain spell slots of a number of levels equal to half the charges expended (rounded down)
• You can cast any spell on the Paladin Spell list that you do not have prepared by spending a number of charges equal to 3 times the level of the spell. You must be capable of casting spells of that level. The spell's normal casting time still applies.

Voracious Counterspell: As a reaction when a creature within 30 feet casts a spell, you can attempt to counter it. if the level of the spell is equal to or less than your Proficiency Bonus, the spell fails, and Aegavult, The Hexdrinker gains a number of charges equal to the level of the spell countered. If the spell's level is higher than your proficiency bonus, you must succeed on a spellcasting ability check using your charisma modifier against a DC of 10 + the spell's level. On a success, the spell fails and is absorbed, granting charges equal to the spell's level. The first time you successfully use Voracious Counterspell each long rest, you suffer no adverse effects, but for each time after the first, you must succeed on a Constitution Saving Throw (DC 10 + the number of successful Voracious Counterspells since the last long rest + the target spell's level) or take 1d10 necrotic damage per level of the spell countered, as the stress of pure magic tears at your form. This damage ignores resistance and immunity.

Devouring Field: whenever a friendly creature within your Aura of Warding takes reduced damage against a harmful spell, Aegavult, The Hexdrinker gains 1 charge per 10 damage negated from the spell.

Overload: if Aegavult, the Hexdrinker, gains charges over its capacity, the excess charges are immediately expended to deal 1d10 force damage per charge expended to a random creature within 30 feet. The Attuned Paladin can choose to take this damage instead of allowing the target to be chosen randomly.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
