Alarm Ball

The Alarm Ball is an item imbued with a modified version of the 'Alarm' spell. It is a clay ball about the size of a human's palm that when broken in one's hand sends a mental alarm to the creator of the Alarm Ball, provided that they are within 100 feet of the breaking of the ball. This ping awakens the creator if they are sleeping.

These Balls can be created using clay, a tiny bell, a piece of fine silver wire and ink infused with gems worth at least 5gp, by anyone who has currently learned the Alarm spell. The creation process takes up a spell slot of at least first level, with every spell level above first allowing the creation of an additional Alarm Ball in the action. The ink and the clay are lost once the ball is used, however the tiny bell and piece of silver wire remain.
