This vicious looking scimitar was forged by removing the mandible from the corpse of an Ankheg and masterfully crafting it into a weapon capable of dealing bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage, depending on how the wielder attacks their target. The outside edge of the mandible was sharpened and balanced to have an even deadlier edge than a typical scimitar, dealing 1d8 slashing damage on an attack as opposed to the standard 1d6 slashing damage. The jagged points on the uppermost section of the inside of the mandible, where the Ankheg would bite down on its prey, have been fine tuned to be especially sharp and serrated, giving the wielder a secondary option to thrust the blade at their enemies, rather than slashing at them, dealing 1d6 piercing damage. Underneath the deadly curved edge of the sword, the blade has been dulled and reinforced to allow the tertiary option of smacking down on a creature with blunt force, dealing 1d4 bludgeoning damage. This scimitar was designed to be devastating, and when used properly, it can leave serious wounds to the target.
When you hit a target, using either the slashing or piercing attacks, with an attack roll of an 18 or higher, you deliver a deep and nasty wound. At the start of each of the wounded creature's turns, it takes 1d4 bleed damage for each time you've wounded it, and it can then make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, ending the effect of all such wounds on itself on a success. Alternatively, the wounded creature, or a creature within 5 feet of it, can use an action to make a DC 15 Wisdom (Medicine) check, ending the effect of such wounds on it on a success.
Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
